Common Signs of Air Conditioning Problems

  1. Warm or Weak Airflow If your air conditioning unit is blowing warm or weak airflow, it may indicate a problem with the compressor, fan motor, or refrigerant levels. Low refrigerant levels can cause the air conditioning unit to blow warm air, while a malfunctioning compressor or fan motor can cause weak airflow.

  2. Strange Noises If you hear strange noises coming from your air conditioning unit, such as grinding, banging, or rattling, it may indicate a problem with the fan motor or compressor. Ignoring these noises can cause further damage to the unit and result in more expensive repairs.

  3. Foul Odors If your air conditioning unit is emitting a foul odor, it may indicate a buildup of mold or mildew in the system. This can be caused by a clogged air filter, dirty condenser coils, or a blocked drain line.

  4. High Energy Bills If your energy bills are higher than usual, it may indicate that your air conditioning unit is not functioning efficiently. This can be caused by a clogged air filter, low refrigerant levels, or a malfunctioning compressor.

Air Condition TROUBLESHOOTING

Replace Your Filter

A dirty or clogged air filter can cause your air conditioning system to work harder, which can lead to decreased performance and increased energy consumption. Check your air filter and replace it if it's dirty or clogged. If the filter is reusable, clean it thoroughly and reinstall it.

Check Your Thermostat

Turn the thermostat to ‘cool’ and set the temperature between 21-24 °C.  Make sure the thermostat is set to the desired temperature and that it's functioning properly. If it's a programmable thermostat, check the settings to ensure they're correct.

Check Service Switches

Ensure they haven’t been turned off by accident. -Loose or corroded electrical connections can cause your air conditioning unit to malfunction or fail altogether. Check the electrical connections and tighten or clean them if necessary.

Refrigerant Levels

Low refrigerant levels can cause your air conditioning unit to blow warm air or not function at all. Check the refrigerant levels and refill if necessary. However, refrigerant should only be handled by a licensed HVAC Company or technician.

Check the Outdoor Air Conditioner Unit

The outdoor unit is responsible for releasing heat from the refrigerant. Check the unit for any debris or obstruction that may be blocking the airflow. If the unit appears to be dirty, clean it with a soft brush and a garden hose.

WHAT CAN I DO TO KEEP MY AC RUNNING LIKE IT SHOULD?
